Skipping in Text

You can skip forward and back in the text by tapping the forward/back buttons at the top of the screen (shown in red). The amount of skipped text depends on the currently selected navigation unit and can be configured with a swipe down on the knob between the arrows (shown in red).

The following navigation options are available:

  • When Progress is selected: drag the progress slider to jump to any part of the text directly. Use the arrows to move the slider by 2%.
  • When Page is selected: tap the page number and enter a new value to jump there directly. Use the arrows to go to the next/previous page.
  • When Time is selected: use the arrows to jump forward/backward by a specific number of seconds. Tap the seconds to change the value.
  • When Search is selected: use the arrows to jump to the next/previous occurrence of the entered query.
  • When Bookmarks is selected: use the arrows to jump to the next/previous bookmark in the text.
  • When Structure is selected: use the arrows to jump to the next/previous word, sentence or paragraph. Tap to switch between structural elements.
  • When Headings is selected: use the arrows to jump to the next/previous heading in the text. Tap to switch between different heading types.
  • Jump directly to a specific word in the text by selecting it and tapping Jump here in the menu.

The following navigation options are available:

  • To skip to a specific word on the current open page, double-click the word or right-click the word and select Jump Here.
  • To skip to a specific place anywhere in the text scroll or click the progress slider at the bottom of the screen.
  • To skip to a specific page you can:
    • Use the Previous Page and Next Page buttons in the bottom-right corner of the screen
    • Use the Left Arrow and Right Arrow keyboard shortcuts
    • Click the page number in the bottom-right corner of the screen and enter a new page number
  • To search or skip by a predefined criteria (navigation unit)
    1. Select navigation unit by clicking the Change Navigation Unit button in the bottom of the screen and select navigation unit:
      • To find a word select Search and type the word you are looking for
      • To skip by a time interval select Skip by Seconds. To change the interval length click the value of seconds on the screen and enter a new value.
      • To skip by headings select Skip by Headings. You can skip by titles (H1), subtitles (H2), and sub-subtitles (H3-H6). You can also use the keyboard shortcuts 1, 2 and 3 to skip by headings H1, H2 and H3 correspondingly.
      • To skip by bookmarks, paragraphs, sentences, or individual words, select the corresponding option in the menu. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts: P for paragraphs, S for sentences, W for words.
    2. Move back or forth in text with the Previous Item and Next Item buttons in the bottom-right corner of the screen or the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keyboard shortcuts.
